You have been diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia. This means that the iron stores in your body are low. We have called in a prescription with refills called to the pharmacy you provided to our office. It is important that you take the iron supplement as directed for the remainder of your pregnancy. The foods below contain a large amount of iron and may also help increase your iron stores. By drinking orange juice with the iron will increase the absorption of iron. Dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheeses should be avoided for at least 3 hours after taking the iron as this will decrease the absorption. Please feel free to call or email our office if you have any questions.
