ABOUT DR. ANDREA ARGUELLO

Medical Education

Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, CA

Residency

Parkland Hospital, Dallas, TX

Dr. Andrea Arguello, a New York transplant who now calls Houston her hometown, was inspired to practice medicine by her father, who is also a physician. However, while she always admired his work and the personal care he provided his patients, it was not until she served as a volunteer clinical interpreter at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston for two years that she learned that practicing medicine was also her life’s passion.

What I find most gratifying about my job is the ability to empower women to take charge of their health and ownership of their well-being.

Dr. Arguello received her degree in Biological Sciences from Rice University in Houston and attended medical school at Loma Linda University in California before returning to Texas to complete her residency at UT Southwestern (Parkland Hospital) where she received an award in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Her professional interests include women’s wellness, minimally invasive surgery and office procedures, as well as high-risk obstetrics.

I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve been able to build with my patients. The best feeling as a doctor is when a patient has a true understanding of her condition and expresses her trust in me during some of the most special and sometimes most difficult times in her life.

Dr. Arguello is devoted to serving others. A co-founder of The Ministry for the Forgotten Children, a Texas-based non-profit organization that has led numerous efforts to provide healthcare in impoverished areas of Latin America, India, Kenya, and Tanzania, she has personally engaged in several community service projects in Ecuador, where her family is from, and also in mission trips to Guyana, Peru, and Mexico. She has also continually served her local communities through volunteering, mentoring, and tutoring. An avid international traveler, (her favorite places include Italy, Thailand, and Morocco), Dr. Arguello is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Italian.

She lives in Colleyville and serves patients in the Hurst, Euless, Bedford (HEB) community from the MacArthur OB/GYN Euless office.

The next place I want to visit is Sub-Saharan Africa, and I would love to get involved in medical mission work there in the future.
