A Virtual Visit May Be the Solution to Solve Your Problem
Telemedicine is now a practical and useful option for many people.
She was bleeding again. Her period would not stop. She started new birth control two months ago, but it is not working for her. She is tired of the side effects. She wanted to stop birth control, but she did not want to risk getting pregnant again. She needed help, but who has time to go to the doctor? Between working from home and taking care of her two children, she wondered when she would have time for an appointment. She called our clinic and was excited to discover we are offering virtual appointments.
What is telemedicine?
You may have seen telemedicine mentioned more in the media over the last few months. Telemedicine refers to health care provided via a phone or video call. The COVID-19 pandemic expanded this technology to the benefit of patients.
What are the advantages of virtual care?
Telemedicine offers a safe and effective alternative to in-person care. Limited contact with others is especially important during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A virtual visit offers a way to take care of yourself while minimizing your risk of exposure.
Because COVID-19 can complicate many medical conditions, it is now more important than ever to take care of yourself. And most health insurance providers are now covering telemedicine.
Are gynecology problems appropriate for virtual care?
Gynecologists can address many issues through telemedicine. Family planning, birth control counseling, menopause symptoms, and abnormal periods are often ideal topics. We can also discuss your mental health concerns. We can begin evaluation of many health issues through telemedicine, and then recommend an in-person visit if needed for an office procedure or surgery. Unfortunately, procedures and certain exams cannot be done remotely, but we will work hard to do as much as possible during your virtual visit.
Virtual care is a perfect option for many people
Telemedicine is a convenient way to get the health you need and take care of yourself without disrupting your lifestyle. You may save money and time on childcare, transportation, and elder care. You may be able to schedule an appointment without having to take time off work. You also will be reducing your family’s risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. In some cases, you may avoid a trip to Urgent Care or the ER.
We know these are hard times. MacArthur Ob/GYN is still here for you. We will always strive to provide safe and effective health care for our community. We are proud to offer telemedicine options to help keep you safe from COVID-19.
