Michelle Costello, PA, is a pure Texan through and through; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! She was born and raised in Houston, and is proud of it, but moved to Dallas in 1990, and has no intention of ever leaving her new home town. She’s currently a Highland Villager, where she lives with her husband and her beautiful blended family of five children and one daughter-in-law.
Michelle has always wanted to be a caregiver, since before she can remember. To say providing care is a passion is an understatement; she’s always wanted to serve patients and live up to the moniker of “Care Bear,” given to her by one of her previous nurses. “My lifelong desire to be a ‘care taker.’ I remember as a child always playing nurse, and wanting to help take care of people,” she recalls fondly.
“I find it an honor to have patients place trust in me with very personal information, and to trust my advice.”
Michelle studied at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, School of Physician Assistant Studies, and has been physician’s assistant for 1992, and has worked in women’s health since 2001. Of making a career in healthcare, she says the work is deeply gratifying because she is able to truly make a difference in someone’s life every single day.
“I find it an honor to have patients place trust in me with very personal information, and to trust my advice,” she said. “I love working with female patients, as I can personally relate to many stages they may be going through.”
She specializes in working with adolescents and truly loves educating them on safe sex methods, birth control options, and encouraging them to make healthy and good choices as they approach their adult years.
Outside of practice, her most important time is spent with her family and going on long walks with her husband and their two golden retrievers. Additionally, she loves spending time by the pool, doing yard work and outside projects, shopping and trying new eateries in and around Highland Village. She cherishes her time with her children, and, in life, she’s most proud of raising her boys to become amazing, smart, athletic and successful young men.
